: The College of Liberal Arts and Center for Electronic Communication at FAU offer a Professional MFA in Computer Arts to qualified professional animators or teachers who wish to pursue a graduate degree in this field of study, but cannot attend the residential program because of travel or scheduling conflicts. The program offers an alternative means of study rather than a new program. As such, students must be admitted to the MFA program, and all regular MFA admission requirements apply.
In addition, admission into the Professional MFA in Computer Arts requires fundamental knowledge of 3D modeling and animation. Prospective students, whose portfolio demonstrates artistic talent and computer competency, must be proficient in Maya software or take introductory training on-site at the Center for Electronic Communication at FAU in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Students are further required to attend classes on-site for at least two days a semester to participate in Workshop, Seminar, and Portfolio courses where they will have an opportunity to show their projects for faculty/student critique and to prepare for the next semester.
The Virtual MFA in Computer Arts is based upon the ability of students to work independently with their own hardware and software. Professors assist students personally through e-mail and telephone communication. Student works-in-progress are posted on-line for critical analysis by faculty and other MFA students in a virtual workshop. |
