: For a growing number of organizations, the management of knowledge and learning for strategic purposes has led to the introduction of new professional roles, including that of Chief Learning Officer (CLO). Building on the strengths of both the School of Education and the School of Management, Walden's specialization in Learning Management addresses the needs of corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organizations for expertise in this emerging field.
A specialization in Learning Management as offered by the School of Education, prepares students to lead organizational-change efforts and to leverage corporate knowledge and learning for tangible organizational results. The degree granted is the Ph.D. in Education.
The specialization includes three core courses in Knowledge and Learning Management and a capstone seminar. After completing the core courses, students take four courses in Learning Management, two courses elected from Knowledge Management and a three-course social science research sequence. Three Knowledge Area Modules (KAMs) are undertaken by the student from among those available in the Higher Education specialization or the General Program. The capstone seminar and an original inquiry resulting in a dissertation complete the program. |
