| Description |
: Capella University is the first online university to receive state approval for K-12 educational administrator preparation. Capella's graduate degree specialization for principal and superintendent preparation was approved by the Minnesota Board of School Administrators in April 2003 and by the Arizona State Board of Education in November 2002.
The Capella K-12 administrator specialization prepares learners to meet nationally recognized leadership standards. Capella is the first online university to receive both regional accreditation and state approval for this specialization.
State approvals allow graduates to apply for certification as principals or superintendents in Minnesota and Arizona. Because this program is approved in these states, Capella graduates from other states can receive licensure in their home state more readily. Applicants should contact their own state board of teaching to determine specific licensing requirements.
This specialization is taught by national experts and designed to build leadership skills that will enable administrators to manage schools at a building or district level. Curriculum covers national and local issues affecting education and includes exercises to develop mastery in strategic planning, organizational assessment, and accountability. |
