| The Master of Engineering: Mechanical (MEM) program consists of 30 credit hours of graduate level coursework. Coursework must be completed with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. | The Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) program recruits health professionals in educational leadership positions, or those who are interested in moving into such positions and who seek formal training in education and management. The cross-section of health professionals in the MHPE program (physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals) provides a broad base of experiences in educational issues and interprofessional cooperation. The program is meant for health professionals serving in or preparing for roles such as: Academic: department chairs, education deans, curriculum coordinators, residency or clinical training directors Health Care: education directors, program planners and evaluators, directors of health maintenance organizations with a focus on education Professional Societies and Research Associations: training directors, executive directors, liaisons for accreditation, continuing education planners International Health Agencies: officials responsible for training, education program directors Upon completion of the MHPE degree, the student will have knowledge and skills in educational planning and evaluation, instructional design and assessment, and in leadership and management of educational programs involving health care systems. The UIC MHPE is unique in that it offers two non-traditional formats that allow professionals to pursue their degrees while keeping their jobs. The on-campus option offers courses in an intensive one or two week format while the on-line option enables students to complete the degree coursework by participating in classes through a computer connection at their home or office. | |||||||||||||||
