Applications include selection of hardware including processor architecture, input/output (I/O) module wiring, programming, controller installation and system troubleshooting. Proportional integral derivative (PID) principles, software implementation of PID control and tuning for optimizing automation applications are explored. Plant floor communication architectures such as Ethernet, Data Highway and DeviceNet in industrial networks, and robotics applications are included.
