: This course helps improve students? ability to communicate effectively in professional
environments by enhancing their understanding of ways in which language is used to accomplish various purposes and shape readers? responses in business situations. Building on an understanding of audience, purpose and the writing process, students learn to create effective messages for a variety of business contexts. Topics include business letters, memos and short reports; message organization and design; strategies for oral presentations; and grammar, punctuation and style. Students also explore the influences of technology, ethics and the global workplace on effective communication. Students earn a Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory grade for work in the course; no credit is awarded. |
