: This course explores decision-making from the perspective of the private or public sector manager who must decide how to allocate scarce resources to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. Qualitative and quantitative approaches are considered. Topics include the nature of the decision process; decision problem framing; the hierarchical structure of objectives; influence diagrams and decision trees; application of probabilities and statistical probability distributions; evaluation criteria; scoring models; sensitivity analysis; time value of money; simulation; risk in the decision process; and use of decision analysis software. The roles of judgment, experience and intuition in decisionmaking are explored. |
