: This undergraduate course examines the defense intelligence and resource management, including the role of defense intelligence in the structure and formulation of national security policy; and how the organization, resource management and oversight of the national foreign intelligence community (NFIC) affect the policy process. The course introduces the concepts on the national interest and national security policy and explores the role of key participants in shaping this policy. Emphasis is placed on the management of Defense intelligence budgets in fulfilling the legal mandates of elements in the intelligence community as well as recent and proposed changes in the management of Defense intelligence assets. The course will assess the impact upon the Intelligence Community of the new Under Secretary for Intelligence position and the three proposed Deputy Assistant Secretary positions. It will also examine the mission of the Assistant Secretary for Command, Control, Communication, and Intelligence. |
