| Program Detail | : This course analyzes the use of deception in support of launching surprise attacks. Case studies are drawn from World War I, World War II, the Cold War, events leading up to the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and the present-day global war on terrorism. The basic elements of deception theory are presented. Students will come to respect deception as a force multiplier at the strategic, the operational, and tactical levels. As perceptual errors needed for a deception to succeed are examined, so too will students begin to understand how to develop defenses against deception. | |||
