| Program Detail |
: To understand the dramatic changes taking place in world politics today and to predict how they will shape the future, these changes must be viewed in the context of a long-term perspective. This course examines how the international political system---the patterns of interaction among world political actors---has changed and how some of its fundamental characteristics have resisted change. Are the episodic shock waves occurring throughout the world clearing the way for a truly new twenty-first-century world order? Or will many of today?s dramatic disruptions ultimately be viewed as the wake of a passing ship---temporary in nature and soon gone? Because people are all influenced increasingly by world events, students must confront the challenge of investigating how the global system works and how the process of globalization is remaking our political and economic world. The student is invited to participate in this exciting endeavor. |
