: During this course students will associate changes in Europe with the rapid rise in the number of international organizations and consider how European unification will affect the world. They will analyze elements of European unification and delineate the norms underlying international system structure, including those that mediate the development of European nations while identifying the linkages among system structure, world orders, and the characteristics of European nations. In addition, they will review the effects German unification has had upon Europe and discuss the effects of rules regulating membership and voting on the legitimacy and scope of the European Union. |
