| Program Detail | : This course is designed to examine in depth different elements that have played influential roles in the development of Latin American civilization. While there are many aspects that could be covered, during this course we will examine six of the most important. These are: 1) The Spanish Conquest of Indian Cultures 2) Independence from Spain 3) The role of the Catholic Church 4) The role of Caudillos 5) The relationship with the United States 6) Revolution. These important elements will be examined from a multi-disciplinary approach, looking at some through history, others through anthropology, through economics and through politics. | |||
