Theories of causation and innovative intervention approaches, such as "drug courts", will be examined. The course will review the dramatic increase of juvenile violence and crime in American culture over the last quarter century. It will focus upon the debate between "root causes" for juvenile violence and crime versus the survivability of the children's court system.
