| Program | : Humanities & Liberal Arts | |||
| Program Detail | : This course is designed to prepare graduate learners for the rigors of academic writing. Academic writing requires a series of related critical thinking and writing skills, including: understanding the nature of academic research; developing strong arguments based on primary and secondary research; evaluating, summarizing, paraphrasing, and citing sources; drafting, revising, and editing multiple drafts of major projects; and producing clear, accurate, and error-free prose. Because this is a writing course, learners should expect to write a lot: the course includes weekly writing assignments; several short writing projects; and one long writing project. Learners will submit a final portfolio at the end of the course. | |||
