Program Detail	: This course explores the major areas that practicing school psychologists will encounter. Special emphasis is placed on social functioning including violence in the schools. Anger control management, peer mediation and the teaching of social skills are topics that will assist school psychologists in dealing with current needs and concerns. Other topics to be covered are: HIV-AIDS, ADHD, autism, Asperger's syndrome, retardation, Down's syndrome, visual and auditory disabilities, retention, talented and gifted, pre-school and school phobia. Issues of privacy, confidentiality and ethics will also be examined.
