The focus is on understanding how the actions of diverse individuals are coordinated through the market process, and the consequences of those actions. 'Microeconomic' topics include trade, the demand and supply model of markets, competition and market power, the effects of public policy in markets, and externalities. 'Macroeconomic' topics include the effects of money on economic systems, monetary and fiscal policy, the price level, employment, growth and international exchange.
