: This course introduces the learner to more complex but also more flexible technologies supporting reusable business logic on the server. The learner is introduced to Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs), their capabilities and contexts for use. It is expected that the learner has a good knowledge of Java and is acquainted with Java Bean technology, although the concept of Java Beans will be refreshed in the class. The learner is introduced to distributed object technology. The technologies of CORBA and DCOM are also explained and compared. The learner uses EJBs and an Object Request Broker (ORB) to access information on a remote database and to display the results of computations on this data to a client's web page. The course also describes how Extensible Markup Language (XML) is utilized by Internet agents to share information between diverse business units. Learners are required to take IT4011 before taking this course. |
