The flow of genetic information by replication (DNA to DNA), transcription (DNA to RNA) and translation (RNA to protein) as well as gene expression and regulation in prokaryotes are discussed. The methodology of new techniques, such as DNA sequencing and recombinant DNA, and their role in medicine and forensics are presented. The genetic aspects of viruses and oncogenes are also reviewed.
