The 1973 Yom Kippur War was the most tactically and strategically challenging war fought by Israel, America's long-standing ally in the Middle East. Israel started out on the strategic defensive and wound up with such a massive strategic advantage on Egyptian soil that the Soviets started threatening the Third World War in defense of their defeated Egyptian ally. |
