This course examines some fundamental philosophical questions from a variety of perspectives, including classical Western philosophy, Buddhism, Taoism, feminist thought, theology, Native American thought, and African thought.
The course is not intended as a survey of these various philosophical systems, but rather as an introduction to basic themes in ethics, epistemology, and political and social philosophy by examining first how they have been defined in Western philosophy and then how they have been approached in other systems of thought. |
