| Accreditation of an education institution helps you to find out about more accurate information about the institution. It is particularly important if you plan to pursue a more advanced degree(such as graduate degree) or plan to apply for a job that has specific requirements in education in the future. | ||
| Online distance education institutions are relatively unknown compared to major universities. We, OOEN, hosts forums for online learners to exchange information and find more about various online education institutions and their programs, but some education institutions are still pretty new, so it can be difficult to find out about these education institutions just by exchanging information with other online learners. Also even if you hear good things about an online education provider, it is important for you to find out whether a degree you obtain from the institution(or a course you take) is recognized by other academic institutions. | ||
| We strongly encourage you to find out about an institution's accreditation information. We have provided quick links to accreditation bodies' websites. As you click on the link of an accreditation body(DETC, NCA or AACSB), you can view the accreditation information provided by the accreditation body. | ||
| Please note that we do our best to keep the information up-to-date, but some institutions listed in OOEN may not have the latest accreditation informatin(i.e., missing a link to an accrediation body), since they are accredited very recently. If you find that an institution is accredited, but the link to DETC, NCA and/or AACSB is not provided, please let us know(email us). | ||

| The forum is created to foster a community of online learners; to take an initiative, we created number of discussion topics on online education providers. Forum members can find out about online education providers by exchanging opinions with other members. We also invite representatives of online education providers to join in and strongly encourage them to participate in the forum so that online learners can ask questions about online education providers. In addition to creating a place to exchange opinions about online education providers, we created discussion topics to discuss online degree programs and online courses so that members can discuss their specific interest in more detail. | ||
