Salesperson License Coursework Requirements Anyone wishing to obtain a salesperson license must complete a real estate principles course (such as Principles of Real Estate X406.8) and take the state examination. In addition, applicants must take, either prior to issuance of the original license or within 18 months after issuance, two additional courses. UC Berkeley Extension Online accounting courses (except for XB126, X167, or X179) are acceptable. Broker License Coursework Requirements A portion of the coursework required for the broker license may be completed through UC Berkeley Extension Online as follows: All applicants are required to take a total of five courses in the subjects of real estate practice, real estate finance, real estate law, residential appraisal, and accounting. Students may complete the accounting requirements through UC Berkeley Extension Online by taking any accounting course except XB126, X167, or X179. Three elective courses are required. UC Berkeley Extension Online offers two courses that meet the elective requirement: Principles of Real Estate X406.8 and Introduction to Business Law X18. Note: Students completing UC Berkeley Extension Online courses for license credit must take the final examination.
