Distance-Learning Continuing Education General Studies C Atlantic University
Description
For those students who have no desire or intent to pursue a rigorous graduate degree but who wish to explore the content of transpersonal studies solely for their personal enrichment, Atlantic University has instituted a distance-learning noncredit program of study.

There are no prerequisite requirements for participation in this noncredit program. Students will study with the same mentors as in the degree program. While the content of the courses in the noncredit program is similar to the content in the M.A. degree program, these courses are of a less rigorous nature. Courses taken in the noncredit program have a seven-month time limit, do not have academic credit, and are not transferable to the M.A. degree program. CEU credit is available for most noncredit courses and contact hour credit is available for most residential noncredit courses.

Tuition for each course in the noncredit program is $445.00. To enroll for the noncredit program, simply complete and submit the noncredit program enrollment form.
Masters Degree in Transpersonal Studies General Studies M Atlantic University
Description
At Atlantic University, we believe that the fundamental purpose of education is to nourish the inherent possibilities of human development. Universities should be places that facilitate the total development of all learners. Learning must involve the enrichment and deepening of relationships to self, to family and community members, to the global community, and to the planet. These ideas have been expressed eloquently and put into practice by great educational pioneers such as Dewey, Montessori, Steiner, and many others.

Atlantic University strives for wholeness in the educational process. Wholeness implies that each academic discipline provides a different perspective on the rich, complex, integrating phenomenon of life. Holistic education celebrates and makes constructive use of evolving, alternative views of reality and multiple ways of knowing. It is not only the intellectual and vocational aspects of human development that need guidance and nurturance, but also the physical, social, moral, aesthetic, creative, and– in a nonsectarian sense–spiritual aspects. Holistic education takes into account the mystery of life and the universe, in addition to experiential reality.
Spiritual Guidance Mentor Program Public Services C Atlantic University
Description
Atlantic University has developed a new training program for individuals who wish to help and guide others on their Spiritual Path. Providing support, encouragement and direction to spiritual seekers is a longstanding tradition, particularly within the Church. Although religious professionals have often taken on that role, there is also a history of trained lay persons serving as "spiritual directors" to mentor individuals with their inner life.

In recent years the tremendous growth of interest in personal spirituality (often extending beyond the confines of a particular religion) has created a need for more and more people to serve as mentors and helpers to individual seekers.

Clearly, spiritual guidance mentoring is not psychotherapeutic counseling, although that kind of professional help can sometimes be a very important adjunct. Instead, a spiritual guidance mentor operates within a more focused set of issues that most seekers face at some point:

- How can I deepen my prayer or meditation life?
- How can I understand the spiritual direction that may be coming from my dreams?
- What are the talents of my soul and how can they work together to fulfill my true destiny or soul?purpose?
- How can I interpret and apply various forms of guidance that may be available to me, including synchronicity, creative inspiration, and intuitive insight (my own or that offered by others)?

The spiritual guidance mentor is a man or woman who is actively working on personal answers to these questions; however, it is also someone who is trained to help other people find their own answers. The skilled mentor avoids being cast in the role of spiritual authority figure, but rather acts as a wise spiritual friend or an experienced companion along the Spiritual Path.

This kind of mentoring or coaching can be done on a fee basis or simply as a voluntary service to friends and acquaintances. Atlantic University's training program is designed to prepare the prospective mentor by helping that person obtain the necessary skills and experience. From that training the student can then begin to help others in whatever way best serves his or her own sense of calling.
