The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing, Leadership, Organization and Management, and Accounting is a professional program designed to prepare you for graduate school or entry-level positions in management, marketing, accounting, and finance. The program provides a theoretical framework of the business discipline with intensive education and practical experience in a concentration area. This program emphasizes the practical application of business concepts and technology. You must have a grade of C- or better in all required business and economics courses to be eligible to graduate with this degree.

This degree program is offered on the EOU campus in La Grande, at BMCC (Pendleton), TVCC (Ontario), EOU-Portland, and asynchronously through the Division of Distance Education.

The Bachelor of Science in Business/Economics is a liberal arts program designed to give you a strong theoretical background in business and economics. Graduates with this degree will be prepared for the rigors of graduate programs in business, economics, or related fields, or will be prepared to pursue careers in the areas of business and economics. Fire Services Administration - BA/BS

Description

EOU conducts the Fire Services Administration (FSA) degree program in a consortium agreement with Western Oregon University (WOU), Chemeketa Community College, Portland Community College, and other community colleges and academies. The FSA program is designed to serve practicing fire services professionals seeking administrative credentials in municipal/structural fire departments and agencies. Emergency services professionals whose fields are ancillary to fire services (such as EMS) are also welcome, but must meet all municipal/structural FSA requirements.

EOU (and WOU) do not provide lower division fire science offerings. Instead, they alternate sponsorship for upper-division "institutes," or required FSA courses, including "advanced" institutes. Any advanced institute meets the EOU capstone requirement. EOU's FSA program provides all upper division course requirements in both face-to-face and distance delivery modes, and recognizes credit for prior learning.

The institutes are delivered through face-to-face settings and at a distance. Face-to-face classes primarily take place in Monmouth, Portland, western Washington, and eastern Oregon. Institutes provided at a distance are delivered through EOU web-based offerings and correspondence offerings through WOU.

Description

The Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree integrates broad academic areas in the humanities and the social and behavioral sciences. In this program the disciplines of economics, philosophy, and political science form the intellectual foundation for exploring critical social problems, the development of social policy, and critical policy analysis.

The program applies an interdisciplinary approach to important societal problems, utilizing the contributions of all three disciplines. The strength of the program is that it looks at policy analysis not just as the economist thinks of it (efficiency) and not just as the political scientist thinks of it (political efficacy), but also by the normative (“ought” or moral/ethical) dimensions that can be more rigorously addressed through philosophy.

This program prepares you for a variety of careers or career changes, including, but not limited to: teaching, journalism, criminal justice, public administration, social services, urban planning, banking and finance, and resource management.The program also provides excellent undergraduate preparation if you intend to pursue formal study of law.

A BS degree in Physical Education and Health (Health Studies concentration only) is available to you at a distance. The major requires 30 hours in the core and 30 more in the health studies concentration for a total major requirement of 60 credits. Coursework involves some Individualized Study, Computer Conferencing classes using FirstClass software, videos, and Web-based activities.
