The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a polytechnic institute in Burnaby, British Columbia that provides full- and part-time education leading to certificates, diplomas, and degrees in technologies and trades.
In addition to the main Burnaby campus, it has a campus in downtown Vancouver, a marine campus in North Vancouver, an aerospace and technology campus in Richmond, and a number of small satellite campuses.
BCIT was founded in 1964 by the government of British Columbia and merged with the Pacific Vocational Institute in 1986 and the Pacific Marine Institute in 1994.
Approximately 14000 full-time and 24000 part-time students enrol each year. BCIT has 1445 full-time faculty and staff and 566 part-time faculty and staff.
The institute is divided into schools: business, computing and academic studies, construction and the environment, electrical and electronics, health sciences, lifelong learning, manufacturing and industrial mechanical, and transportation. |
