The University of Delaware (UD OR UDel) is the largest university in the state of Delaware. The main campus is located in Newark, with satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, and Lewes. The school is currently headed by President David Roselle. It is medium sized - approximately 15,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students. Although it is a state-supported school, it is privately chartered (the University of Pittsburgh is likewise chartered).
The school has particularly good programs in engineering and agriculture, with a world-class program in chemical engineering. It is one of only four schools in North America with a major in art conservation. |
