The University of Arkansas is a land-grant university founded in 1871. The main branch is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The University had 16,035 students enrolled in 2002-03. Altogether, there are eleven branches and three other units in the University system, including the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock, Arkansas. Other campuses are in Pine Bluff, Monticello, Little Rock, and Fort Smith; there are community college campuses in Hope, Batesville, De Queen, Morrilton, and the Phillips Community College. Other units coming under the University include the Criminal Justice Institute, the Arkansas Archeological survey, and the Division of Agriculture.
