Troy State University is an accredited state university located in Troy, Pike County, Alabama. It has grown rapidly in recent years and is now the third largest university in Alabama after Auburn University and the University of Alabama with approximately 6300 students. The main campus consists of 35 major buildings on 460 acres (1.9 km?).
The school colors are cardinal, black and silver and its athletic teams are called the Trojans. They participate in the NCAA's Division I and will become full members of the Sun Belt Conference in 2005.
The Troy State system includes additional campuses Troy State University Montgomery, Troy State University Dothan , and Troy State University at Phenix City. The university has very large off-campus/distance learning program and offers many courses in conjunction with the United States Armed Forces.
